Women's Cross Country Places Fifth At CNE Championship

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Endicott women's cross country team placed fifth in the Conference of New England (CNE) Championship on Saturday afternoon, hosted by Western New England.

Suffolk led the field with 37 points to secure its fourth consecutive conference championship.

Roger Williams (67), UNE (74), and Gordon (76) finished second through fourth, respectively, while Hartford (201), WNE (203), and Wentworth (238) rounded out the field behind Endicott (87).

The Gulls posted their second-fastest top-5 average pace in program history at a 23:52 clip, also topping last season's CNE Championship time.

Hannah Shepard (Keene, N.H.) led Endicott with an eighth place finish in a school record time of 22:46.98 on the 6-kilometer course.

Hannah Risko (Albany, N.Y.) followed in 11th place at 23:10.70, while Brianna am Ende (East Lyme, Conn.), Alexa Suchy (Guilford, Conn.), and Lulu Steele (Bedford, Mass.) rounded out the scoring lineup for Endicott with 16th (24:06.73), 22nd (24:28.26), and 31st (24:51.72) place finishes, respectively.

With their top-15 finishes, Shepard and Risko earned CNE All-Conference honors. 

An official release including All-Conference selections and postseason major award winners will be announced by the CNE next week.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Shepard, Risko, am Ende, Steele, Corinne Robert (Mattapoisett, Mass.), and Teagan Shaughnessy (Watertown, Mass.) all notched personal bests.
• Robert finished 32nd overall in 24:53.09, while Shaughnessy was 36th overall in 25:25.44.
• The top-5 spread was 2:04.
• Endicott's top-7 spread was 2:38.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott will compete in the NCAA DIII East Regional Championship on Saturday, November 16 in Contoocook, N.H. (Hopkinson State Fair Grounds).
