BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 13 Endicott men's ice hockey team defeated Wentworth, 5-2, in a Conference of New England (CNE) clash on Saturday afternoon at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
The Gulls brought the pressure right out of the gate and captured a two-goal advantage within the first two minutes of the game. Ty Gaulin (Stratham, N.H.) tallied the first goal 28 seconds into the game from the high slot off a feed from Michael Casey (Media, Pa.).
Brad Zona (Auburn, Mass.) rocketed a one-timer from the point for the second goal of the game just over a minute later at 1:38 with Carson Nickulas (Barnstable, Mass.) and John Goldowski (Buffalo, N.Y.) on the helpers.
Sebastian Speck (Dryden, Mich.), Primo Self (Grand Rapids, Mich.), and Casey also found the back of the net in the victory (2nd – 1:23 | 2nd – PP, 6:01 | 3rd – EN, 19:40).
Peter Sterling (Manassas, Va.) made 16 saves in the contest to improve to 2-0-0 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls lead the all-time series 25-4 against the Leopards.
- Nickulas has registered an assist in back-to-back games.
- The Blue and Green held a favorable faceoff advantage as they won 42 of the 74 puck drops (56.8%).
- Kyle Furey (Marblehead, Mass.) has dished out an assist in three straight games.
