NCAA TOURNAMENT: No. 17 Men's Lacosse Falls To No. 9 Swarthmore, 14-9

Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.), Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.), and Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) led the Gulls with two goals.
Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.), Colt Green (Honey Falls, N.Y.), and Manny Marshall (Chelmsford, Mass.) all scored solo tallies in the setback.
In goal, Tim Luciano (Westport, Conn.) made 12 saves for the Gulls between the pipes.
After Swarthmore scored the first goal, Endicott responded with three consecutive strikes to take a 3-1 lead with 3:32 to play. Two goals by the Garnet tied the game at three heading to the second quarter.
Two Endicott goals 46 seconds apart in the second stanza gave the Gulls a two-goal advantage. Swarthmore countered with a 3-0 run over the final 6:11 opening to take a slim 6-5 advantage into the break.
In the third, Swarthmore extended its lead to four as they outscored the Gulls 5-2 for an 11-7 lead with one quarter to play.
The Garnet matched both of Endicott's goals in the fourth and added another late tally with 41 seconds remaining to secure the 14-9 victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Tonight's matchup was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
- At the face-off "X", Barker went 19-26, while leading the team with 13 ground balls.
- For the second time this season the Gulls were perfect in transition going 17-17 on clear attempts in the contest.
- Luciano's 16 wins this season tie him for the second most in a single season.
WHAT'S NEXT
No. 9 Swarthmore (15-2) advances to the NCAA Tournament Third Round where they will take on No. 1 Salisbury University on Sunday, May 12 at 6:30 PM.
No. 17 Endicott sees its 2024 season come to a close with a 16-2 overall record.
