Mills’ Late Second Half Goal Lifts Men’s Soccer Past UNE On Senior Day, 1-0
BEVERLY, Mass. — An 89th minute goal from Fisher Mills (Ridgefield, Conn.) led the Endicott men's soccer team past the University of New England (UNE), 1-0, in Saturday's Conference of New England (CNE) matchup at Hempstead Stadium.
Prior to the game, seniors Billy deCastro (Stonington, Conn.), Carmine DiPietrantonio (Boxford, Mass.), Carter McCoy (Monroe, Conn.), Conor Rooney (Monroe, Conn.), Fisher Mills (Ridgefield, Conn.), George French (Monroe, Conn.), Jason Ferrandino (Upton, Mass.), Konrad Krysztoforski (Bydgoszcz, Poland), Matt Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.), Ryan Gerry (Durham, Conn.), Sean Catino (Plymouth, Mass.), Tim Lynch (Groton, Conn.), Travis Perrault (Ashburnham, Mass.) and team manager Ronaldo Ribeiro (Tiverton, R.I.) were honored for their contributions to the men's soccer program and the Endicott College community.
As UNE and Endicott were deadlocked approaching the final minutes, Lynch fed the ball through the legs of fellow teammate Catino, finding Mills wide-open on the 18-yard line for the game-winning strike.
The Gulls were relentless with their late-game attack as the ball just seemed destined for the back of the net.
In the first half, Rooney and Gerry hit the left and right posts during high-quality scoring chances within two minutes of each other.
Ethan Harrison (Sandy Springs, Ga.) made his second straight start in net for the Gulls and improved to 1-0-1.
