Shinney’s Triple-Double Powers Gulls Past Rams, 75-60
BEVERLY, Mass. — Behind junior guard Emma Shinney's (Wakefield, Mass.) second career triple-double, the Endicott women's basketball team defeated Suffolk University, 75-60, in conference action on Saturday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.
Shinney stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points (7-14 FG, 1-2 3PT, 1-4 FT), 13 rebounds, and 12 assists.
The junior guard is one of 13 student-athletes in Division III to record a triple-double this season. Shinney ranks second on the list behind Alexa Charles (Tarrytown, N.Y.), who has three triple-doubles.
Gulls' freshman guard Aleah Bracey (New Bedford, Mass.) finished with a career-high-tying 27 points (9-14 FG, 7-11 3PT, 2-2 FT), marking the second game in a row she has hit the mark.
Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) also poured in 16 points (6-14 FG, 1-7 3PT, 3-4 FT), while Tricia Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) nearly posted a double-double via nine points and nine rebounds.
Endicott never trailed in the contest, as the game only featured two ties in the first quarter (9:18, 2-2 | 5:59, 4-4).
The Gulls led the matchup for 37:23 and held an advantage as large as 21 points (66-45) with 4:31 remaining in the fourth quarter following a floater from Shinney.
The second quarter was the difference in the conference slate, as the Blue and Green outscored the Rams 20-8 in the stanza.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott improved to 20-17 all-time against Suffolk.
- The Gulls have won the last three meetings in the series, limiting the Rams to under 70 points in each matchup.
- Shinney fell one assist shy of tying her career-high against Gordon on February 17, 2024.
- Bracey has scored 20 or more points in four games this season.
- She also recorded her third career game with seven 3-pointers made, which ranks second all-time in program history.
