Johnson & Wales Bests Endicott On Senior Day, 69-59
BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team lost to Johnson & Wales, 69-59, in Saturday afternoon's Conference of New England (CNE) showdown from MacDonald Gymnasium.
Prior to the game, the senior class of Alyssa Garabedian (Cheshire, Mass.) and Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) were honored for their contributions to the College and the women's basketball program.
Aleah Bracey (New Bedford, Mass.) and Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) tied for the game-high in points with 17 each.
Garabedian also contributed 11 points and eight rebounds, while Sofia Mazzotta (Billerica, Mass.) notched seven points and hauled in 10 caroms.
The Wildcats pulled away in the fourth quarter with the score tied 46-46, utilizing a 12-2 run to jump ahead 58-48 with 2:51 remaining in the contest.
Johnson & Wales outscored the hosts 25-18 overall in the stanza, thanks to an efficient shooting effort (7-14 FG, 11-12 FT), following slim leads at the break (31-29) and the end of the third quarter (44-41).
In total, today's contest featured six lead changes and eight ties.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Despite the loss, Endicott leads the all-time series, 8-2.
- Wallin and Garabedian were accompanied by graduate student Caroline Waisnor (Lynnfield, Mass.), senior manager Rachel Barach, and senior practice player Nick Soper in senior day festivities.
- The two teams entered today's matchup as the top two seeds in the CNE standings.
- Johnson & Wales has won eight straight.
- The Wildcats also are 9-1 on the road this season.
- Both teams were nearly even in every secondary stat category, except for second chance points (JWU - 18 | EC - 7).
