Late Goal Pushes Union Over Endicott on the Road

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Gulls finished their opening weekend at the Flower City Soccer Tournament this afternoon against Union College where a late goal lifted the Dutchwomen over Endicott who now falls to 0-2-0. Defensively the Blue and Green were strong with key efforts from sophomore LeeAnn Card (Paxton, Mass.) and senior Sarah Person (Holden, Mass.).

The first half of the match went scoreless for both teams. Union kept junior goalkeeper Katie Donnelly (Madison, Conn.) alert early on as she faced two Dutchwomen shots that she was able to save the keep the match scoreless in the first frame.

The Gulls came out in the second half firing with a shot by sophomore Laura Wysocki (Somers, Conn.) but was unable to get it passed goalkeeper Allison Brustowicz who came up with the save. Following Wysocki in the 62^nd minute freshman Shelby McLenithan (Bennington, Vt.) rebounded off the save and attempted to put it in the back of the net but was unsuccessful. Minutes later senior Lexi Dussi (Boxford, Mass.) fired one off but Brustowicz was able to make the save. The last attempt for Endicott came from sophomore Madison McKinley (Shrewsbury, Mass.) but was unable to find the back of the net.

In the final minutes Union fired three shots at Donnelly before they were successful. The goal started off a long hit which Mollie Gilchrist was able to take advantage of a defensive miscue and head it into the goal for the win.

Head Coach Jodi Kenyon stated, "We played hard and had some opportunities we just weren't able to finish. Defensively we looked good with strong efforts from Card and Person."

The Gulls will come back home for a North Shore Cup faceoff against Salem State on September 4^th at 7:00 PM at Endicott Stadium.
