Gulls Defeat Colonels 3-0 to Record 10th Win of the Season

MILTON, Mass.- Behind an offensive effort that saw three different players register goals, Endicott defeated Curry 3-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play on Saturday afternoon.  With the win, Endicott, now 5-1 in CCC play, moves into possession of second place in the conference while Curry, who falls to 1-5, moves into eighth.  

If the opening minute of the match was any indication of what was to come, the match looked as though it was going to be an offensive shootout as the Gulls got on the board not even a minute into action.  Senior Madison Missinne (Ridgefield, Conn.) scored her fourth goal unassisted just 39 seconds after the opening whistle.  

After that goal, both offenses would be unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the first half as the score would read 1-0 in favor of Endicott at the half time break.  The Gulls were able to put up an impressive 10 shots in the first half, six of which were on goal.  The Endicott defense also limited the Colonels to five shots in the frame and only four on goal.  Both keepers were active as Katie Donnelly (Madison, Conn.) made four saves while her counterpart made five.  Endicott also registered three corner kicks to Curry's two in the half.

The Gulls would come out with more pressure in the second half and would get on the board just over eight minutes into the frame as Laura Wysocki (Somers, Conn.) netted her team leading fifth of the season.  Missinne was again involved as she fed a pass to Wysocki for her third point of the match and third assist of the season which ties her with Wysocki for the team lead in points with 11.  

Endicott wasn't done with their offensive output just yet as freshman Shelby McLenithan (Bennington, Vt.) would add another goal at the 80 minute mark.  The tally, her second of the season, made the score 3-0 in favor of the Gulls.  That score would hold true up to the final whistle to give Endicott their 10th win of the season overall and fifth in CCC play.  

Endicott finished the match with 22 shots to Curry's 14 as the Gulls put up 12 in the second half.  Of those 12 shots, nine were on goal as Curry's keeper, Haley Lorge, was forced to make seven more saves to run her total to 12 on the day while allowing three goals.  Her effort was bested by Endicott's keeper Donnelly who made 11 saves without allowing a goal to notch her fifth shutout of the season.  The Gulls would also finish with the edge in corner kicks, 7:5, and fouls, 11:9. 

The win marks the 16th straight season that the Gulls have recorded at least 10 wins as they improve to 10-5-1 overall and 5-1-0 in CCC play.  Curry now falls to 6-8-1 overall and 1-5-0 in CCC play.  Endicott is now off until Wednesday when they will host CCC foe Nichols at 7 p.m.  The match against Nichols will be Endicott's Senior Night where they will honor the team's seven seniors.
